The
City of Warroad maintains a paved biking and walking path that runs
from the Warroad Point Park along the edge of the lake, through town to the
Warroad Estates at the north edge of the city. Quiet city streets allow
for safe biking within Warroad, recalling the relaxed days of small-town
living.
For
those interested “off road” biking and hiking, the Warroad
School Forest two miles northwest of town on 370th Street (Airport
Rd.) offers
miles of trails on its 130 acres. In winter the trails are
groomed for cross-country skiing. Nearby state parks and forests
offer thousands of acres for cyclists and hiking enthusiasts to
pursue the challenge of the trails and enjoy the
beautiful natural surroundings. You may come across white tail deer,
black bear, or possibly a moose. Bird
watchers will spot a good sampling of the numerous species
of birds for in the region. Hikers who enjoy viewing Minnesota’s wildflowers
won’t be disappointed by the number of flowers
they will encounter. For more information on state parks and forests,
please visit our Attractions page.
