Retail Trade Analysis Report (PDF)  This report by the University of Minnesota Extension Office provides information on retail sales for Roseau County.  It shows how well Roseau County attracts retail customers compared to other communities in Northwest Minnesota. It is a helpful tool for business owners to assess strengths and opportunities in our businesses community.

Wisconsin Extension's "Let's Talk Business":  A number of newsletters are available online providing ideas for expanding retail and service businesses.

Another helpful resource is Challenges of the Future:  The Rebirth of Small Independent Retail in America (white paper).

Small Business Development Center Counseling:  The Minnesota Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) provide confidential counseling and training to individuals interested in expanding or starting a business.  Whether you already own a small business, or are still in the planning stages, the SBDCs can help you face the challenges of running a successful small business in the Warroad area.  Business counselors visit Warroad on the fourth Tuesday of each month for one-hour advising sessions.  There is no charge for this service; however, appointments must be scheduled in advance.  Call or email the Warroad Chamber of Commerce to schedule your appointment.
